  1. Long hand:  The offensive hand with the most trumps
  2. is usually called the long hand, the other the short
  3. hand.  For purposes of analysis either hand
  4. can be thought of as the long hand when determining 
  5. a line of play.  The computer examines both ways.
  6.  
  7. Losers: Losers are counted in the long hand only.
  8.  
  9. Extra winners:  Winners in a side suit in the short
  10. hand which exceed the number of cards in the same
  11. suit in the long hand.

  13. Ruffing winners:  Winners by trumping in the short
  14. hand which remove losers in the same suit in
  15. long hand.
  16.  
  17. Long suit winners:  Winners in a side suit in the
  18. short hand that are developed by playing enough
  19. cards to void this suit in both opponent's hands.
  20. The suit is trumped in the long hand to avoid
  21. losing any tricks in the suit.  It is the
  22. trumping of some of the cards in the long hand
  23. which distinguishes long suit winners from extra
  24. winners.
